1. Log in to Gizmos at explorelearning.com. If you do not have an account with Gizmos, apply for one here.

2. This is your home page. The first thing you'll want to do is make your classes.

Click on ADD NEW CLASS.

3. Each class will have a short name on the tab. Set this up for easy access.

Configure the tab name, full class name and click ADD CLASS.

4. Now let's set up our class rosters.  We can either directly add students and create user names and passwords for them or allow students to do this. If you want to add students directly, click on class roster.

5. Click New Student

6. Type the student's first and last name, then select Add Student

7. As you can see, a user name and password is created for the student.

8. If you have older students you can provide them with a join code.

Click on the class enrollment code
to make larger or to provide a PDF (print or email) to students.

9. The student enrollment handout is great for tracking user names and provides instructions for first time users.

10. Now let's look at how to find Gizmos appropriate for your grade level and content.

You can search in a few locations and by grade and topic, by academic standard or textbook.

11. We recommend browsing by academic standard or grade/topic.

12. If browsing by CO Academic standards, first choose the state of CO.

13. Choose your grade level.

14. Choose your standards and click the title to go to the teacher Gizmo page.

15. Each Gizmo has lesson info including a lesson plan, teacher guide and community-created lessons.

16. Preview the Gizmos by selecting Launch Gizmo and playing around with the simulation. If you need ideas, check out the student exploration sheet and/or the teacher guide.

17. This is the magnetism Gizmo.  Notice the buttons at the bottom for the simulation and the tabs at the top for different views of the simulation.

18. Above each Gizmo teachers will find the Lesson Info.

19. When teachers expand the Lesson Info you will find the description, student exploration sheets, vocab sheet and teach guide (which includes an answer sheet.)

20. If you want to use that simulation with students,, select ADD TO CLASS.

21. Choose your class, or add to all classes.

Example: Biology 3rd Period 20-21

22. You can expand the simulation into full screen for display in a video conference or on your interactive whiteboard.
