1. After you login to Lantern LMS, you will automatically be in the Dashboard. The Dashboard is where you will find courses in which you are currently enrolled. Since you are teaching Who is God, that's what you'll find here.

2. The Dashboard is one of the items in the Global Navigation Menu. Let's take some time now to look at the other items in the Global Navigation menu.

3. Click on Account in the Global Navigation menu to learn about the various options for managing your Securus Lantern account.Â

4. After clicking on Account, you'll see your name and the options you have for your account. Â

|
|
5. Click Notifications so you can set up your Lantern notifications.Â

|
|
6. Take a few moments and look at the options you have to receive your Lantern notifications. Â

|
|
7. In this specific course, the activity that would matter the most is the submission activity. Select your frequency of notification for course submissions. Â

|
|
8. Back in the account menu, scroll down and click Files to see any files that you have uploaded to your account.Â

|
|
9. This is where you will see any files that you have uploaded to your account. Â

|
|
10. Click Settings to manage your account settings.Â

|
|
11. You will see the email address that you are using for Lantern here. Â

|
|
12. Click Add Contact Method if you would like to add another method of contact to your account. For instance, if you'd like to receive text notifications on your mobile phone, you can do that by clicking Add Contact Method.

13. Click Cell Number and add your cell number to the box. You will then need to add your Carrier. The SMS Email will auto-populate in the box.

14. Click Register SMS to add your cell phone number. You will likely receive a verification code on your phone afterwards from Lantern or Canvas. You will then need to enter it here on the site.Â

15. The ePortfolios section will not be used for this course so you can ignore that. Â

|
|
16. On the Global Navigation menu click Dashboard to return to the Dashboard.

17. In the Dashboard, you will see any course in which you are currently enrolled. Â

|
|
18. You would see all of your courses (current and future courses) by clicking on the Courses button. Â

|
|
19. Click Calendar to see your Lantern calendar. As this is a self-paced course and is not tied to specific dates, you probably will not be relying on the Calendar.Â

20. Click Inbox to access the Inbox, which is Lantern's communication tool. Â

|
|
21. You can use the Inbox to communicate with Teachers and Students enrolled in the course. Â

|
|
22. Click Compose a new message icon in the upper right hand corner to send a message to a course participant.Â

|
|
23. Click Select course.

|
|
24. Click Who is God? in the Course Dropdown menu.

|
|
25. Click the Address Book icon to access the participants of the course.

|
|
26. Click Teachers or Students to find the person whom you would like to send a message. This also shows you the total number of people enrolled in the course.Â

27. Student is selected here since I am going to send a message to a student in the course.Â

|
|
28. Then select and click the name of the student to whom you would like to send a message.Â

|
|
29. Click Subject and enter the subject of your message.Â

|
|
30. Click Body and type the message that you would like to send. Â

|
|
31. Type the body of your message here.Â

|

32. After you have entered your message, you can add an attachment by clicking on the Attachment icon. Â

|

33. When you are satisfied with your message, click Send to send your message. That's it. You're done. Â
