1. Okta Verify is a multifactor authentication app that adds another level of security to verify users identities when they sign in.
How to setup Okta Verify on a New Device
Installing the app on an Android device

Items needed for the install
  • The phone you are installing the app on
  • Desktop browser (separate from your phone)
  • Internet access
2. The first step to install the app is login to the Okta dashboard using a desktop browser at https://cloud.ringling.edu.

Enter your Ringling Username and Password then click the Sign in button.

3. From the top right-hand side click the down arrow icon to expand the menu.

4. Choose Settings

5. Navigate to the Security Methods section and to the right of the Okta Verify row click Set up.

6. If Prompted, reenter your password and click Verify.

7. Click Set up

8. Leave your browser window open with the QR code. You will need this after installing the app.

9. From your mobile device go to to Google Play Apps and search then download Okta Verify.

You may need  to enter your Google Play password if prompted. The app is a free download.

10. Tap Get Started.

Note the following prompts may differ slightly from what you are seeing.

11. Tap Next

12. Tap Add Account

13. Tap Organization

14. Tap Yes, Ready to Scan

15. Click While using the app.

Access to your camera is required to scan the QR code

16. Return to your browser window and scan the code you created in earlier steps.

If the code has timed out you will need to recreate it by creating a new QR code. See beginning steps if necessary.

17. Tap Allow so that it is easier to approve future sign-in notifications.

18. Biometrics or Touch ID is not necessary but you are welcome to utilize.

19. That's it! Tap Done
Okta verify is now setup on your device.

20. To double check your installation return to your browser. Your device name should now be shown under Security Methods.

21. To send a test push notification click My Apps located on the top left-hand side of the window.

22. Click Test My MFA Setup app.

23. Select Get a push notification

24. From your phone tap the notification alert or click on the app.

25. On the desktop browser take note of the number displayed.
The number displayed will differ every time you verify.

26. Back to your phone and tap the corresponding number that is displayed from the browser window.

27. The app will display a success notification.

28. Your browser should launch the Ringling Institutional Technology page.
