1. The first step is to open Your Google Classroom Class and click the Class Settings gear at the top right

2. Scroll down and click the Stream dropdown that says Students can post and comment
|
|
3. Click Only teachers can post or comment. Alternatively you could change this to "Students can only comment" if you would like students to be able to comment on teacher posts in the stream but not create their own posts.

4. Click the Stream dropdown that says Show condensed notifications
|
|
5. Click Hide notifications to prevent new classwork from appearing in the stream. This will help keep the stream less cluttered so that teacher posts can easily be seen by students.

6. Click Save at the top right of the window.

7. That's it. You're done.
