1. Patient Cases are documented communications with patients or about patients outside of an encounter. This tutorial will review how to create and how to reassign a patient case.

Patient Cases
· Patient cases are documented communications with
patients or about patients outside of an encounter
· Patients enrolled in the patient portal can send
or receive patient cases to or from the practice.
· Patient cases become part of a patient’s
permanent medical record.

2. Search for the patient. Type Athena, One and press enter

3. If a quick action has been set up, Click Patient Case. Note: patient cases can also be created from the quick view and from the patients chart

4. The patient case workflow opens up

5. To create a patient case from the patients chart, Click the hamburger menu and select Create patient case

|
|
6. The patient case workflow also displays

|
|
7. Click the source and recipient drop down

|
|
8. Select the appropriate source. The Patient Portal option can be selected to send a message to the patients portal account. Click Patient

|

9. Click the type drop down

|
|
10. Select the applicable option. The Type selected will determine where the case is routed to. Click Refill

|
|
11. Click the provider drop down

|
|
12. Select the appropriate provider. Select Dr. Palmer

|
|
13. click the SUBJECT box

|
|
14. Enter brief summary about the case. Type Refill Request and press enter

|
|
15. Click the check box next to Priority to mark the task as urgent

|
|
16. Click the case description section

|
|
17. Enter detailed description for the case. Type patient request refill on lisinopril and press enter

|
|
18. Data Entry Completed will be selected by default, as this is best practice. If it's not, click the Data Entry Completed radio button.

19. Click Save

|
|
20. Note the case summary line is now reflecting the case in a Review status and assigned to Dr. Palmer Staff

|
|
21. If the case needs to be reassigned to someone else, Click VIEW ACTIONS

|

22. Click the Leave in REVIEW to radio button

|
|
23. Search for the user to assign the case. Search for palmer

|
|
24. Click Dr. Palmer from the list provided

|
|
25. Click Save

|
|
26. The case is now assigned to Dr. Palmer.
