1. Before you start, you need to have two devices ( 1.Computer, Laptop/tablet) 2. Your phone.
 You need to scan the QR code from the 1st device with your phone. 

2. 1. On the first device ( Computer, laptop, tablet) go to or copy and paste this link

2. Do not use your phone to do this step, as you will need it to download the Microsoft Authenticator.

3. 1. Enter your CUNYFirst Username

4. Enter your CUNYFirst Password

5.  click Log in

6. Click OK

7. Under " My Authentication Factors" Click Manage

8. Click Add Authentication Factor

9. Click Mobile Authenticator - TOTP

10. 1.Enter a Friendly Name
In the Friendly Name field, enter something like “MEC MFA” so you can recognize this entry in your Authenticator app.
* Note for iPhone users:
 Use hyphens or underscores instead of spaces (e.g., MEC_MFA) to avoid display issues.

11. Click Verify Now

12. 1, A space will appear, This is where you will put  the code generated from the MFA in your phone. 
Leave this page open and visible. You will need to com back to it. 

2. In the next steps you will be setting up Mobile Authenticator on your phone

13. 1. Go to your App store ( Google Store or Apple store)
2. Download and open the Microsoft  Authenticator App on your phone. If you are ask to sign in select skip. DO NOT SIGN IN
3.  Select " Verified ID" on the bottom right

14. Select Scan Qr code 

15. Use your phone to scan the QR code from the first device.( Computer, laptop/tablet)

16. If this message pops up select "Cancel"

17. Click on the Home icon ( Authenticator) and get the code. you have 30 seconds to input it on your 1st device ( Computer laptop. tablet)

18. Type in the Verification Code from the Authenticator on your computer/laptop/tablet

19. Click Verify and Save

20. On the first device ( computer, laptop, tablet, you should see "enabled".

21. 1.Everytime you log into CUNYfirst, Brightspace, Zoom, or other CUNY systems, you’ll be asked to enter the one-time code from your phone. 
2. To get the code go to the Microsoft Authenticator on your phone.
Click Home "Authenticator" 


22.  that's it. You're done.
