The Four C’s of Learning and Development

iorad is multi-modal learning software that auto-generates six distinct training formats from a single screen capture, enabling every learner to engage with the same content in the format that works best for them.
Multi-modal learning software delivers training content in multiple formats to accommodate different learning preferences, roles, and contexts — without requiring teams to produce separate content for each format.
iorad generates six modes automatically from one capture: Try (guided interactive practice), Scroll (step-by-step scroll), Slide (slideshow), Watch (narrated video), Quiz (knowledge check), and Do (in-app guidance). Every mode is generated from the same source, with no re-recording or additional production required.
Every iorad tutorial generates all six modes simultaneously from a single capture. Learners choose the mode that fits their preference, or admins assign specific modes based on role, onboarding stage, or compliance requirement.
| Mode | Format | Best For |
|---|---|---|
Try | Guided click-through with step prompts | First-time learners, onboarding |
Scroll | Annotated step-by-step scroll | Quick reference, SOP review |
Slide | Slideshow presentation | Team walkthroughs, async sharing |
Watch | Narrated video playback | Observers, pre-work before practice |
Do | Real time, in-app guidance | Readiness confirmation, advanced learners |
Quiz | Knowledge check with scoring | Compliance validation, certification |
iorad gives creators control over which modes are surfaced to which learners. Publish all six for self-directed learners, restrict to specific modes for compliance-required workflows, or sequence modes across an onboarding journey.
Try mode is an interactive simulation. Learners practice the process inside the iorad tutorial player, using captured screenshots of the application. They click, type, and follow prompts as if they were using the real software, but they are in a safe sandbox where mistakes do not affect live data. It is best for first-time practice, onboarding, LMS training, and building muscle memory before someone works in the actual system.
Do mode is live, in-the-flow guidance. Instead of practicing in the simulated iorad player, the learner performs the task directly inside the real application. iorad overlays step-by-step prompts on top of the live interface, telling the user where to click and what to do while they complete the actual workflow.
In short, Try mode teaches learners in a simulated environment; Do mode guides learners in the real environment. Try is better for safe practice and structured training. Do is better for just-in-time support when someone needs help completing the real task right now.
Active engagement produces stronger recall than passive observation. Multi-modal learning reinforces the same content across formats: Watch mode for initial exposure, Try mode for guided practice, Do mode for independent completion of a task. The variety also reduces cognitive load — learners can reference Scroll mode without replaying a video, or take the Quiz when they're ready to validate.
Use this when learners need consistent context, policy framing, narration, or "why this matters" before doing the workflow.
This is the best default for software/process compliance because learners must click through the workflow in a safe simulation instead of just watching it. It builds proof of engagement and reduces risk when the process involves sensitive systems or data.
This is the most compliance-oriented mode when you need a score, accuracy threshold, or knowledge check. It helps prove the learner understood the process, not just completed the content.
Use Do Mode after guided practice when you want learners to complete the process more independently. It is useful for proving they can execute the workflow, but is best used after Try/Quiz rather than as the first compliance experience.
Most training tools force a choice between interactivity and scale: you can have one or the other, but not both. iorad removes that tradeoff: capture a workflow once and every learner gets the format that fits how they learn, without a production team building each version separately.
